As part of Islamophobia Awareness Month, North Huddersfield Trust School invited MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager to deliver multiple assemblies on the topic of Islamophobia to their pupils in all year groups.
MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager delivered short 20-minute presentations looking at what Islamophobia is, what is causing it to rise and how the students can play a part in tackling it within their school and locality. The students were shocked to see the statistics around media negativity about Muslims, seeing that for every 1 moderate reference towards Muslims, there are 21 negative references.
North Huddersfield Trust School thanked MEND for delivering the assemblies.
