On Monday 1st November, MEND’s community team in Yorkshire were invited to North Huddersfield Trust School (NHTS) to deliver a staff training session on Islamophobia as part of the Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM) campaign.
MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager delivered the causes and cures of Islamophobia presentation. The presentation aimed to educate staff at NHTS on Islamophobia, its manifestation within the UK and how the school can work together with their pupils and the local community to tackle the growing issue of Islamophobia.
The staff at NHTS were shocked and disgusted to hear the statistics around the disproportion between negative and positive stories on Muslim in the media. The School thanked MEND for delivering such an insightful presentation and committed to tackling Islamophobia.
MEND would like to thank NHTS for supporting the IAM campaign and inviting them to the school. MEND looks forward to working with NHTS again in the future.
