On Wednesday 1st December, MEND’s community team in Yorkshire were invited to the University of Bradford to deliver a presentation on Islamophobia in support of the Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM) campaign.
MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager delivered the causes and cures of Islamophobia presentation. The presentation aimed to raise awareness of Islamophobia to staff and students, and explain how it’s manifested within the UK and how it could be tackled.
The attendees were shocked at the lack of representation of the Muslim community within media and politics and agreed that there needs to be a better representation of the Muslim community in civic, social and political life.
MEND would like to thank the University of Bradford Islamic Society for inviting MEND Yorkshire to raise awareness of Islamophobia and also thanks them for supporting the Islamophobia Awareness Month campaign.
