On Thursday 25th November, MEND’s community team in Yorkshire were invited to the University of Leeds to deliver a presentation on Islamophobia in support of the Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM) campaign.
MEND’s Yorkshire and Humber Regional Manager delivered the causes and cures of Islamophobia presentation. The presentation aimed to students and staff at the University of Leeds on Islamophobia, its manifestation within the UK and how to tackle this ever-growing issue.
The attendees were shocked at the lack of representation of the Muslim community within media and politics. The work and achievements of MEND, especially the set up of the Islamophobia Response Unit, were greatly appreciated.
The Islamic Society at the University of Leeds thanked MEND for delivering the presentation which was described as very informative, beneficial and insightful.
