On Thursday 19th November Awaz FM discussed Islamophobia Awareness Month on their weekly Talking Point program.
The host took guests through a discussion that looked at Islamophobia as a whole, examining the definition, the causes of Islamophobia and what society has to do as a whole to tackle the issue. Including the need for robust legislation that worked to protect the community and not criminalise it, as such legislation as PREVENT works to do.
This topic led on to discussions around the lack of trust in the police and the need for relationship building. With Police Scotland joining the conversations it was an ideal time for the discussion as well as discussions around not only the need to report but how to report.
Activities and events taking place throughout Islamophobia Awareness Month were highlighted, including National Khutbah day, exhibitions throughout the up and so much more. All of which can be viewed on Islamophobia Awareness Month website.
