IAM Event with MEND: Leicester’s Workshop

On the 4th November MEND volunteers ran a careers workshop between 7.15pm and 9pm at Masjid Furqaan, 1 Kamloops Cres, Leicester LE1 2HX.
The event was well attended by over 20 youth and a few senior leaders. The volunteers on the day were Jamal, Khadija, Imran and Owaise.

The informal session allowed volunteers to go through their career journeys and discuss Islamophobia in the workplace.

Discussions were had with the youth around their aspirations and how important it was for Muslims to be represented in every field.
Information was provided around how to report Islamophobia and the forms it takes.
Finally, pizza was provided by the hosts at the end where the youth were able to mingle and ask the volunteers questions on their respective careers, and other social activities.

IRU posters were also placed in the Masjid.
